Let's just say it doesn't take a whole lot to put a smile on my kids' faces. We always try to make the best of where we live and it didn't take long for us to get out and explore what the great state of Alabama has to offer. Luckily we already own a canoe, so the muddy river exploration happened quickly! Neal relied on Millie to help him maneuver through the vines of the swampy Autuaga Creek (which dumps into the Alabama river, but talk of 8 ft alligators has kept us away from exploring that far). They actually had a great time! Home Depot and Lowes are our two favorite and most visited stores these days, since we are new homeowners again. Thank heavens they have a huge supply of Tractor Lawn Mowers, the kids think its such a party every time we take them there! A few other favorites in this town: The YMCA has a great water slide pool that got us through the remainder of the summer; Brewster's Ice Cream...ummm enough said; BMX track - yesssss!!!; AND extremely friendly neighbors!! The boys have made friends with two little boys across the street. They are sweet and love to share their great toys which include two 2-seater dune-buggies.

Rumor has it that balance bikes are the way to go. So we gave it a shot...at the BMX track. And within a week Noah went from this...
To this (hmmm not sure why he doesn't have on a helmet, oops):
And one of the not so favorite things in Alabama: critters including this nasty Orb-weaver spider (aka Banana Spider....yuck!)
