Beach Bums

We took a trip to Coronado at the end of October, and it ended up being one of our favorite vacation spots! We stayed at the ghetto Navy Lodge, but the location and setup proved to be worth the semi-rundown accommodations. You can't get much better than being able to get up in the morning and walk out to a sandy super fun park (with slides and swings) that is right next to a gorgeous almost private beach! The location of the Navy Lodge on NAS North Island has a very secluded and private feeling. Justin really enjoyed the aircraft carriers, helicopters, and F-18 Hornets that flew just over head and seemed to land right next to us! We really enjoyed hanging out with Kari and Mark (and kids) and the Penneys! I think one of the highlights was roasting marshmallows next to a fire-pit a couple of the nights we were there.

We did have a bit of drama on the last day (San Diego Zoo day), Kari's little Madelyn had been sick with a nasty intestinal virus for a few days. On our last morning there, Madelyn had what is called a febrile seizure. She ended up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital for a few hours. We decided to head back to Sacramento a day early, so we could follow the Stacy's home, and to get home just in case any of us came down with the same nasty little virus.

We will try and make it to the San Diego Zoo next time. The day after we came back, we played hookie and took our kids to the Sacramento Zoo for the morning. They didn't seem to mind the difference :)

We hit the beach early this morning, and Justin didn't have his swimsuit. So he improvised.

While Kari and Mark were at the hospital with Madelyn, the rest of us took a drive around the base. We watched a black T-38 (from Beale) land on the runway, so Neal decided find his buddies from up here and try and get us out on the tarmac to check out the jet. It turned out to be a nice little distraction.

Really?!! You had to post that lovely attractive picture of me. Thanks. I do like all the cute playground pics of the kids...I didn't get any of those. Well, we did have a really good time other then the last day. We will definitely have to go again next year! You can't go wrong with San Diego and the beach!!
