I had a tough time wrapping my brain around how to make Christmas Eve memorable this year, in this new place, without the Stacys around the corner to plan at least some part of Christmas with. Last year, we were all in Texas, so the plans were made and we just showed up. The years before that we usually did some part of Christmas with Kari and Mark and their family. Each year has been a little different, with Neal gone sometimes, extra family visiting sometimes (Tyson and Valerie one year, my parents, etc). After a wild and crazy Christmas with tons of Hinson and Brown family adventures last year, doing a simple "just us" Christmas this year was really nice in a way. The Sanders came over for Christmas Eve dinner. We really enjoyed them, and it was just such calm and enjoyable evening! Dinner was delicious: non-traditional Tritip and baked potato dinner, Lindsey's infamous tasty salad, followed by yummy Cheesecake. It hit the spot and didn't take a lot of preparation or cleanup. After some caroling, the Christmas Story reading, and some just plain fun and silliness, the kids opened their one Christmas present (JAMMIES!) and then off to bed they went!
Millie is a little "tween" with her ipod. Seriously? It's Christmas Eve!!
The boys LOVED their super obnoxious Mario Bros pajama pants!! You can practically hear the sound that is coming out of Simon's mouth in this picture. Seriously the sound you are imagining is pretty much the sound of the excitement ringing through our home, which unfortunately did not end with the comings and goings of Christmas. HAHA!
